SQ: If you were hopping on a plane tomorrow with an open ticket, where would you go take the Gospel?

ERIC AND BEN SAY:

Well....since Eric and I are currently in Indonesia, AND we do have a plane ticket for tomorrow (at least when I am writing this), we feel very strongly that God is calling us to head to the harsh environs of Windsor, CO to herald the gospel! In all honesty God has been truly magnificent in this week long excursion to Indonesia. We've seen the truth of the Gospel applied, and as a result the men of this country are rising up. There was a deep resonance with the message of Christ-built masculinity. It has truly been a beautiful week of ministry!
Real thick carpet that is squishy - though I do have an affinity for slick hardwood which I can slide around on with socks.
4. Camping vs. Hotel?
A hotel with a river, lots of trees, and a lake out back where you can sit, read a book, and not see the hotel.
5. Car vs. Bike?
Depends how far I have to go.

BEN SAYS:

I recently picked up the biography by Courtney Anderson "To the Golden Shore: the Life of Adoniram Judson." It is one of the most fascinating and gripping biographies I have ever read (and I've read a good many)! Adoniram Judson was the first American to become a missionary to a foreign country. The story is one display after another of the Providence of God intervening and shaping the course of Judson. He suffered incredibly in his health, lost many children, had two wives die at relatively young ages and one more outlive him by a few years. He was an incredible mind (he was as equally brilliant as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams), but he surrendered all his potential to...

I See Beauty

By Grace McConnaughey

Around this time of year, everyone starts asking "What are you thankful for?"

Today, I am grateful for the beautiful things in my life. I’ve realized that I haven’t had a true perception of beauty, though. When one looks through only the physical eyes, beauty means one thing. When making use of the spiritual eyes, however, beauty takes on a whole new dimension...

By Tessa Hershberger

In a society where men have forfeited their masculinity and women have aggressively cheered them on in doing so, the noble atmosphere on the Ellerslie campus is a rare gem. Due to the fact that Ellerslie’s vision places a strong value on God-created masculinity and femininity, the daily student life is a beautiful model of men being gentleman and women being ladies- with delight in doing so! The purpose is not merely to create the atmosphere of a Jane Austin romance, but to
The first month at Ellerslie has seen many of our hunches proven true. For instance, Ellerslie isn't a combination of Eric and Leslie Ludy's first names. Our classmate Mike Wieszchowski doesn't have just one eyeball like his Monsters, Inc. counterpart. (And for that matter he isn't green, either!) Most importantly we've discovered that there are other people on earth with a kindred passion for Jesus Christ...

A few hours before the banquet started, Eric asked if I could somehow find his old journals from 17 years ago. Normally, this wouldn’t have been a difficult request, but due to

Waking Before the Dawn

by Jade Valcarcel

I am not a morning person. I have never been a morning person. Until a few months ago, I never saw the benefit to being a morning person. For several months before I arrived in Windsor, the Lord had really been laying a burden on my heart to wake up before dawn and spend those hours with Him. Though I had tried this consistently in the past, it always seemed that after a couple months or trying to rise early, I would slide back into my old habit of hitting that snooze button one too many times until a mad dash for the door was all that I had time for in the mornings. Not a pleasant feeling. However, my reasoning was...

I announced the other night, during the student conference call, that the long awaited Ellerslie Student Handbook is nearly done. Believe me, there is nothing special about this little 26 page booklet, other than the fact that it has been very difficult to put together. And yet, though there have been times of much strain as we made decisions on cell phone usage, curfews, and the allowance of spandex as a reasonable clothing option, it has been quite fun...
When our daughter Harper first came home from Korea, people from all over the country sent her baby gifts to welcome her and shower her with blessings. It was truly amazing to receive cards, letters, toys, books and clothes from people we’d never met; people who had heard Harper’s story and wanted to invest into her little life. One of the gifts that someone sent was a white lamb that sang Jesus Loves Me when you wound it up.

It was just before Eric and I were engaged, and our two families met together often for fellowship, prayer, and just celebrating everything God was doing. On this particular night, we were gathered in our cozy living room, listening with excitement as Eric read from his journal...

Adapting Around God's Word

By Leslie Ludy
On a missions trip sixteen years ago, before Eric and I were married, I shared a hotel room with my future sister-in-law, Krissy. She was in her mid-twenties and single, and passionately in love with Jesus Christ. Each morning, she would greet the Lord with a smile and eagerly open her Bible, pouring over God’s Word as if it were a sacred letter He had written especially to her. The way she lived out her daily life reflected her inner priorities – God’s Word truly directed her steps, her actions, and her words...

Seeing as my creativity can only go so far, I’d love to commission your help in providing the questions we’ll be answering. So, if you have a hankering to know a certain something about us here at Ellerslie and would like to submit your own question, then email me with your idea and we just might have a go at it!
